Cornerstone Schools has established a scientifically inspired collaboration with the University of Michigan through the IDEA Institute FUTURE Program. FUTURE stands for Foundations for Undergraduate Teaching: Uniting Research and Education. With it, college students work with one classroom teacher per semester to develop, and then co-teach three days of science or math investigations with students.
The undergraduate applies what they have learned in college about chemistry or physics to the middle or high school classroom they are working with. The children greatly benefit from the collaboration by experiencing innovative, new ways of teaching. Plus, the approach includes plenty of hands-on activities for our students.
