I was born and raised on the east-side of Detroit by my single mother, with the assistance of my grandmother. Like other families in my neighborhood, where crime and violence were often part of the common experience, we struggled to make ends meet. After spending my early years in the public school system, my mother began to fear that the public system could not provide sufficient learning, nor the needed escape from the negative influences of my community. We had heard Cornerstone Schools was a place where the youth received a great education that included character development in a safe and loving Christ-centered environment. My mother made considerable sacrifices so I could attend Cornerstone and have an opportunity to reach my full potential as a person, both academically and spiritually. At Cornerstone I was surrounded by a caring faculty and an overall nurturing community that was genuinely interested in my personal development and success.
Cornerstone is truly unique. You do not have to spend a lot of time at the school to take notice of the profound investment that is made in the children, and it is this investment that captures the essence of Cornerstone Schools. Because of the generosity from the community I was able to attend Cornerstone Schools. A Cornerstone Schools education truly transforms the lives of children for good.
