Cornerstone Education Group Staff Changes
Cornerstone is making exciting changes that will help support our growth and goals in the coming years. This includes a few staff changes that we are thrilled to share with you.
We’re pleased to announce an expansion of our education program. Cornerstone Education Group is adding an Early Childhood Success Academy in 2020 that will enable us to serve children from Pre-K to 12th grade. Ernestine Sanders will serve as Executive Director of the Early Childhood Success Academy.
We are grateful to Ms. Sanders for serving as Interim Chief Academic Officer (CAO) for the past several months and we are excited to welcome Lisa Key, our new CAO. Ms. Key is joining Cornerstone Schools after a career spanning more than 20 years of educational leadership and social work experience.
Congratulations are also in order for Dezirae Daniels, who has been promoted to principal of Madison-Carver Academy.
Ms. Daniels holds many specialized degrees and has over 20 years of experience, including several years with Cornerstone in multiple roles from teacher to instructional coach to Dean of Academics.
We welcome and look forward to the innovative approach each of these staff members will bring to their new positions.
Partner Morning - Adopt A Classroom
Adopt-A-Classroom In The Partner Program
Partners are gathering their friends, family and colleagues to participate in the Partner Program, and you can too!
We are excited to announce the Adopt-A-Classroom Initiative! By inviting a minimum of 6 individuals to join you at Partner Morning in the 2019-20 school year, you will have a classroom of students assigned specifically to you and your group or organization.
Assemble your group to adopt a classroom and spread the joy this program brings!

Summer Reading Helps Students Excel
Did you know that children can fall back two grades in reading if they don’t read during the summer? It’s called “summer slide” and fortunately for parents, it’s not difficult to avoid.
Simply by encouraging your child to read throughout the summer, you can help them stay at or above grade level in their reading proficiency. Cornerstone teacher Deborah Warden provides tips for making summer reading fun in a recent article on our Three Pillars blog.
Now Accepting Donations of Gently-Used Business Clothing
Chana Hardin, Cornerstone parent and valued volunteer, has organized a clothing drive to help Washington-Parks Academy parents who may be seeking employment.
Clean, gently-used ties, button-down shirts, dress pants for men and women, dresses and other business attire can be dropped off at the Washington-Parks front office to the attention of Coach Brown, who will be collecting the donations at the school location. All clothing sizes are needed.
We’re Hiring Certified Teachers
If you’re a certified teacher, or know of one who wants to make a difference and build a successful career, we want to talk to you! Our current openings include certified K-12 teachers across our network of schools.
Why will you love Cornerstone? Because we encourage innovation in student education and in career development. Plus, we offer a competitive compensation and benefits package. Please spread the word if you have friends or family members who may be interested.
